Sweet. School should be fun. You'll both have a new adventure in the fall then. What are you studying? I'm going back to school in the fall myself... i'm a chemistry major, pre-medicine.

Im going to be an Animal Science major, with a focus on captive and companion animals. I really want to be a small animal veterinarian someday.

That's awesome. I don't really handle animals that well, being that i've never had a pet (well we had a fish for a week when I was 7 and my dad gave it back to my cousin b/c he didn't want to "deal with it"). But I digress. I always thought veternary medicine would be tough since animals can't tell you what they are feeling. Good luck!
So I found out yesterday that 6 of my really close friends volunteered to go back overseas... I really want to go too, but I have to go to school... although they aren't going to korea, it was an option and if they had chosen it I probally would have skipped school for another year and signed myself up! It will be a long fall/winter without them... even my best friend is going.
Well I'm just jealous I can't go too. But once I get to school it will go fast since I'm taking so many hard classes this year.

well, i heard of 3 other kids from my high school going to the same college as me, and several more from my city, but unfortunately none that i knew well. most of them were just overachievers (you know the type) and i had heard their names a lot.
the funny thing is, everyone acts like my boyfriend is "abandoning" me by joining the military, but i should be in school for four years after he comes home!!

I went through a similar "abandoning" situation only reverse. The majority of my friends and my boyfriend at the time felt I was abandoning them and choosing the air force and being more important but that wasn't the case. I was just doing something new, making some money, and growing up. It is scary to have someone go away but I don't think that his choice to serve his country is in any way abandoning you. People who make you feel that way just don't understand that choice i guess. keep you spirits up... sometimes the military sends you great places (i'm in hawaii as we speak... granted I work every night but the days are mine... i went surfing yesterday) you never know where you might get to go to visit him.

a month later and i still cant get him to leave. he keeps bumping the date back. i told him the longer he stays, the harder it will be to leave and i'll miss graduation due to finals. supposed to know his new ship date soon.
i dont think im being abandoned. i mean even if he stayed home, i would be leaving for college, and i cant expect him to follow me.
thanks NurseDish!!!

It sounds to me like you have things under control. If this is something he wants to do he should get on with it already! He is lucky to have a girlfriend who is ok with him going and supports him. You'd be surprised how many people in the military have wives who feel abandoned, let alone girlfriends.
When do you start class for college. I start on Monday. I'm moving back to school in two days, which is why I havn't been posting as often as usual and will probably not be very consistent in my postings until I'm settled. School will be fun, but it's too bad you have to move! I abhor moving!!!... i'll stop my ranting however.
Good luck and tell that boy he should just listen to you b/c you clearly know what's best!
