I caught an episode of this Britcom on PBS yesterday. It was hilarious! Usually, I have a hard time understanding the humor in British comedies, but Monarch of the Glen was great. I was confused, of course, given that I had never seen the show before.
I know we have a few UK posters here. Anyone from across the pond enjoy the series? Any tales to tell? I probably will not be able to see it again for a while, I checked the listings and it is not on in the next few weeks.

ive never heard our tv called Britcom before... bizzare.. is that term used alot over there ... very interested now! It is a term used for British comedy programs here in the States. A lot of people who are interested in television use it, and it has been gaining some strength outside that group, too, simply because it is a simple term to differentiate between a comedy from the States and a comedy from the UK, without having to get into the difference in humor. Personally, no. I only get to see what is on PBS. In the past, I have watched Chef!, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Mr. Bean and As Time Goes By. However, there is also BBC America[/a], which shows many other BBC programs. I have not heard of those. Exactly. The background and backstory is what makes some of the comedy funny. Those in the States just would not understand and thus would not get the humor. Banger? Not a clue. I know that "bobby" is a term for police. So, "bobby dazzler" could mean lots of things. Does it have anything to do with police officers?

a banger is a sausage... its used in the context.. "bangers and mash" .. quite apt for this site...
and a bobby dazzler isnt to do wiv police (although a bobby is a police officer) its when something looks good.. so instead of saying "that looks really good" when talking about something .. u would say "thats a bobby dazzler"

I managed to see another episode on PBS last night. It was hilarious. Archie had to save his property -- again-- only this time it was Lexie's boyfriend who was trying to "steal" it away from him. I should try to get this show on DVD.
