Anyone been to any good concerts lately? Any one you wish you could go to? The Eagles are coming to Charleston this month I think. I wish I could go, I've been trying to win tickets off of the radio. cheers applemartini

I have been to one concert in my life. It was at a college, inside, and it was an Irish group known as The Green Fields of America. I may have fallen asleep halfway through but I loved it and now I am a huge fan of Irish/Celtic/Gaelic music. Huge fan.
Oh, and I was at a fair once where Charlie Daniels was playing. When "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" started up the crowd went wild. Fun stuff. I think another year, at the same fair, country artist Pam Tillis was playing, but I did not hang around near the stage.
I would really love to see The Corrs in concert. They are one of my favorite groups, being Irish and making quality music. They were actually pretty close a while ago but I was unable to go or even try for tickets, and they have since left the States for Europe or somewhere. The next time they are touring the US I will make an effort to see them.

the last concert I went to was a local band... a good friend of mine is in it... i usually tend to go to concerts that are more like this than the big venues... i save my trips to the arenas for sporting events (yet there is no NHL this year... i don't know what to do with myself sometimes)
But i would really like to go to warped tour or ozzfest this year... i think that would be a great experience
RJ i'm a fan of charlie daniels! that would have been awesome

RJ--I am a fan of Irish, celtic, gaelic music as well. I am an english major and I take every Irish Lit, history/culture class that I can. very interesting stuff. I wish I had enough money to study in ireland for a semester NurseDish--my fiance plays drums in a local christian rock band and so I know an awful lot about the local venues. I am also in the same boat as you concerning the NHL--what a bummer this year huh? cheers applemartini

RJ i'm a fan of charlie daniels! that would have been awesome It was awesome. Despite having been a fan of country music for the past six years or so the only song I know from the Charlie Daniels Band is "The Devil Went Down To Georgia ," which everyone else knows as well. So, when that song started, everyone at the fair rushed for the stage. We all knew the song, we all loved the song. Great stuff. applemartini, one of my lifelong dreams is to spend some time in Ireland. And I do not mean a short visit, I mean a year or so. Just to soak it all up. I would really love to learn to speak Gaelic. I tried teaching myself but failed miserably. The music is just amazing; it is tough to put into words how it gets to you. I bet you understand. I have met so very few people who enjoy the genre, let alone any who understand its appeal.

RJ, My uni. offers a course in speaking Gaelic. I've wanted to take it for so long, but for some odd reason being an english major I have to take 2 years of a foreign language (spanish, german or french, Gaelic is not a choice). there is one professor that I love and he is in charge of the Irish studies department--he's lived in Ireland for 4 years I think and he constantly talks about it. I always try to get him for professor if i can so I can listen to him and his many adventures cheers applemartini

The rock group (or pop group, whichever way you would classify them) 3 Doors down came to my UNI. last month, I went, mainly bc there was nothing else to do ,and it was cheap. They were so-so.

I went to see the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and they were terrific. They played Eine Kleine Nachtmusik which is one of my favourite pieces.
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik was the record Charles was listening to at the end of 'Fade Out, Fade In' and whenever I hear the extract that was played in M*A*S*H, I can see Charles' expression as Hawkeye discovered the snake in his bed.

personally, i would love to go to a classical music concert because I love the music. unfortunately, nothing like that is ever offered around where I live! It's a shame, the closest I get to something like this is going to a recital at Uni. by the music department (which is usually pretty good!) cheers, applemartini

I get in to these concerts free because I am a member of St John Ambulance and the concert hall is one of our regular duties.
Last night I went to see an orchestra but they were out of tune and the pieces were a bit dull. They didn't play with any enthusiasm.
